Is Attacking McCain's Military Record and Experience a Dem Tactic?
It sure is starting to look that way.

Re Dem attack on Military Record-It's a Disgusting FACT!
Here is a story from May 14th. They actually explore some of thoughts of some Viet Nam vets serving in Congress and it is mind bending
----------------------------------------------------------------
"Among other things, Bai reports that there is a quietly held belief among some of the other Vietnam veterans in the Senate that McCain is an unwavering backer of the war in Iraq, essentially, because prison spared him many of the embittering experiences of Chuck Hagel, Jim Webb and John Kerry:
There is a feeling among some of McCain’s fellow veterans that his break with them on Iraq can be traced, at least partly, to his markedly different experience in Vietnam. McCain’s comrades in the Senate will not talk about this publicly. They are wary of seeming to denigrate McCain’s service, marked by his legendary endurance in a Hanoi prison camp, when in fact they remain, to this day, in awe of it. And yet in private discussions with friends and colleagues, some of them have pointed out that McCain, who was shot down and captured in 1967, spent the worst and most costly years of the war sealed away, both from the rice paddies of Indochina and from the outside world. During those years, McCain did not share the disillusioning and morally jarring experiences of soldiers like Kerry, Webb and Hagel, who found themselves unable to recognize their enemy in the confusion of the jungle; he never underwent the conversion that caused Kerry, for one, to toss away some of his war decorations during a protest at the Capitol. Whatever anger McCain felt remained focused on his captors, not on his own superiors back in Washington.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Kerry Spent 3 Months in Viet Nam and suffered two paper cuts and a self inflicted wound which gave him 3 purple hearts and a ticket out.
I hope the Dems try to attack McCain's service to America. I hope they try hard. Because McCain will beat Obama 40 states to 10 and possibly even more...
I actually disagree here
I read that article &, while it was clearly biased in that NY Times - showing enough respect for the other point of view and enough solid research that maybe it will make our bias less blatant and our flat assertions look justified by association- way, they were not ripping on McCains military record. The writer acknowledged his heroism & wrote that the other vets are still in awe of it. His point was just that McCain had a different experience and did not see all the same stuff because he was in captivity. Is it a subtle attempt to dismiss his combat experience? probably. Is it an outright attack on his war record? No. Not like some of the filth that is out there.
In spite of its bias I actually found the McCain Doctrines (as that article is called) interesting in spite of its bias and faulty conclusions. It reminded me - for example- that the policy of regime change in Iraq started under Clinton. Democrats seem to forget that.
Andrea
I remember Kerry well...and he threw NO medals away, but he did
throw his brothers in arms under the bus in the worst possible piece of garbage uttered during a time of unutterable garbage. Kerry was looking for publicity and a quick road to fame; his real record was out there, but conservative papers and magazines were few on the ground and there were NO conservative or opposition TV or radio media.
I work on a Navy base. I work with a woman who hadn't voted once in her life time and neither had her husband. He was retired Navy. They both voted in that election because Kerry's fame in the Navy was legendary. John Kerry to most Navy folk what Benedict Arnold was to G. Washington.
I agree - An attack on John McCain's military record
would be suicide for the Dems. I know of no man who has served our country with more honor than McCain, and everyone knows this.
