Senator McCain held a press conference at noon today with reporters. Jim Geraghty over at National Review's Campaign Spot has a good report of what went down including the topic of offshore drilling.
He said that in the coming weeks, he would be focusing on "America's energy crisis" - the country's dependence on foreign oil. Tomorrow he will call for the lifting of "the federal moratorium on states that choose to permit exploration."
"We must embark on a national mission to eliminate our dependence on foreign oil... exploration is a step toward the longer-term goal." The candidate repeated his advocacy of a federal gas tax holiday.
McCain also addressed his "repeated" calls for joint town hall meetings with Senator Obama, where members of the audience effectively select the topics with their questions. "Let the American people talk to us and ask us their questions. It would change the dialogue [I don't think the reference was intentional] in Washington... I hope Senator Obama will reconsider my invitation. There is a meeting of La Raza after July 4. Both of us have accepted invitations to address that organization. I recommend we have a town hall meeting together. People will be informed, and maybe in some ways, more entertained if we did that."

At a press conference in Boston, John McCain told reporters that he was "disappointed" in John Kerry. Kerry had said that McCain was "confused" after McCain said that a date for troop withdrawal from Iraq was "not too important," but that what is important is the level of casualties in Iraq.
Kerry and other Democrats seized upon the "not too important" part of the statement to claim McCain does not care about our troops, when they know very well that is not what he said or meant. McCain clearly explained himself in the interview with Matt Lauer, meaning that if troops remain in Iraq with no casualties, people will not be upset, just as they accept us having troops in South Korea, Japan, Germany, etc.
McCain also underscored his support for free trade agreements like NAFTA and CAFTA.
As far as being "disappointed" in John Kerry -- Kerry has shown himself to be a total louse. From his returning to Vietnam and working against his own country, to his impugning of John McCain, Kerry is clearly devoid of character and honor.

Here is raw video of John McCain holding a Press Conference in West Palm Beach, Florida today, March 6, 2008, along with Florida Gov. Charlie Crist. The first 3:40 of the video shows McCain and Crist arriving, and McCain struggling with a series of microphones that would not work. McCain kept his cool and then made a statement that begins at the 3:40 mark of the video. His statement centered on the attack against a military recruiting office in Times Square, which McCain denounced. He then took questions for about 15 minutes.
