McCain clearly sees Russia's move into Georgia as a sign of Putin's larger designs in the region. As a bulwark against further Russian aggression, McCain said he would support rapid acceptance of Georgia and Ukraine into NATO membership - but is unsure if other NATO countries would support such a move.
