Obama and Iran
Ha'aretz - an Israeli News Service - is reporting today that Obama Vice-Presidential Nominee Joe Biden told senior Israeli officials yesterday that Israel will have to accept a nuclear Iran:
Democratic vice-presidential candidate Joe Biden was quoted Monday as telling senior Israeli officials behind closed doors that the Jewish state will have to reconcile itself to a nuclear Iran.
In the unsourced report, Army Radio also quoted Biden as saying that he opposed "opening a additional military and diplomatic front."
Biden, chairman of the powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has long been considered strongly pro-Israel. His nomination as Barack Obama's running mate had been expected to shore up the Democrats' strength with U.S. Jewish voters.

Army Radio said Israeli officials expressed "amazement" over the remarks attributed to him."Israel will have to reconcile itself with the nuclearization of Iran," Army Radio quoted Biden as telling the unnamed officials.
"It's doubtful if the economic sanctions will be effective, and I am against opening an additional military and diplomatic front."
This could be an incredibly explosive story. Ironically, these comments by Biden are coming out on the 69th anniversary of the beginning of World War II. On Sept. 1, 1939, the German Blitzkreig rolled into Poland setting off a World War that would kill millions. But the road to that fateful day began years before through a series of appeasement steps that enabled Hitler to gain strength and weaponry to threaten his neighbors - and the world.
Biden's appeasement statements to Israeli officials highlights the terrible judgment Biden has had on Foreign Policy over his 30+ years in the Senate. Biden fought Ronald Reagan tooth-and-nail to prevent the U. S. Military buildup in the 1980's that eventually brought down the Iron Curtain and the Soviet Union. He also opposed the first Gulf War to liberate Kuwait, and he recently opposed the Surge Strategy in Iraq saying it was doomed to failure. Again and again he has been wrong. But this statement not only shows his continued lack of good judgment, it signals the kind of administration Barack Obama would lead - an appeasement foreign policy that will lead the United States down the path to disastrous consequences.
