In response to Wesley Clark's cheap shot attempt yesterday on Senator McCain's military service, the McCain campaign has launched a Truth Squad.

The retired General's statement yesterday about McCain's military service, coupled with the liberal voices Ben Smith quotes in his story today, have given the GOP nominee just enough cover to launch his own version of Fighting the Smears.

All: Please join us for a conference call launching the McCain Truth Squad -- a new group aimed at countering the recent attacks on John McCain’s military record. On the call will be Truth Squad leaders, including fellow POWs Col. Bud Day, USAF (Ret.) (Medal of Honor) and Lt.Col. Orson Swindle, USMC (Ret.), as well as Carl Smith, retired Navy pilot who served with Sen. McCain.
