Obama Gaffes
Alas, even when The One tries to get snarky and sarcastic about John McCain, he messes it up these days! In this video he is trying to attack John McCain for being too mean in his ads when he actually winds up saying that he wins the most negative ad contest "pretty handily!"

In an interview today with ABC News' George Stephanopholous, Barack Obama was trying to hammer those who have passed the rumor that he is a "Muslim" when he uttered the phrase, "My Muslim faith." George immediately stepped in to help him out by saying "Christian faith."
Here is part of a Washington Times report on the incident:
The exchange came after Mr. Obama said that Republicans are attempting to scare voters by suggesting he is not Christian, which McCain campaign manager Rick Davis said was "cynical."
Asked about it on ABC, Mr. Obama said, "These guys love to throw a rock and hide their hand."
"The McCain campaign has never suggested you have Muslim connections," said Mr. Stephanopoulos, who repeatedly interrupted Mr. Obama during the interview.
"I don't think that when you look at what is being promulgated on Fox News, let's say, and Republican commentators who are closely allied to these folks," Mr Obama responded, and Mr. Stephanopoulos interrupted: "But John McCain said that's wrong."
Mr. Obama noted that when Republican vice presidential nominee Gov. Sarah Palin "was forced" to talk about her pregnant 17-year-old daughter, he issued a forceful statement to reporters that the line of inquiry was "off limits." But he said the McCain campaign tried to tie him to "liberal blogs that support Obama" and are "attacking Governor Palin."
"Let's not play games," he said. "What I was suggesting -- you're absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith. And you're absolutely right that that has not come."
Mr. Stephanopoulos interrupted with, "Christian faith."
"My Christian faith," Mr. Obama said quickly. "Well, what I'm saying is that he hasn't suggested that I'm a Muslim. And I think that his campaign's upper echelons have not, either. What I think is fair to say is that, coming out of the Republican camp, there have been efforts to suggest that perhaps I'm not who I say I am when it comes to my faith -- something which I find deeply offensive, and that has been going on for a pretty long time."

As you will hear in this video clip from today's announcement that Joe Biden is Obama's running mate, Barack Obama got confused about whether Biden would be on top of the ticket or on the bottom! Here is how the McCain Campaign has already jumped on the gaffe:
“Barack Obama sounded as though he turned over the top spot on the ticket today to his new mentor, when he introduced Joe Biden as the next president. The reality is that nothing has changed since Joe Biden first made his assessment that Barack Obama is not ready to lead. He wasn’t ready then and he isn’t ready now.”

The RNC has published a Chronology of Obama Gaffes which is comprehensive to say the least. Very funny stuff. It seems that everyone has an "inartful" moment or two or three or four etc.

How many times does Barack Obama have to make outrageous statements before he gets called on them? Today in an interview on Face the Nation, Obama said he expects to deal with leaders like Karzai, Maliki, and Sarkozy for the next "8-10 years" or so. As one commenter at Hot Air.com said:
Well with 57 states, it only stands to reason he’d have to President for just a tad longer than normal…

Getting Stupid with it?
This guy used to be my favorite actor. I don't know what the heck he was thinking here. He goes on the show to promote his latest movie. Can you imagine the reaction of folks working with him now to promote his new film when he said the line that I highlighted below? You could almost hear their hands slapping against their foreheads..doh!
Needless to say, I am very disappointed in Will Smith. I could care less who he supports for President, that's his right. But when he goes and makes that statement above, he makes an ass of himself. Here's a guy who's made a fortune in music, tv, and all his movies. Yet there he is stating that it's not a good to thing to be an American until Barack Obama comes along?
I wish Lauer had the sense to ask him about all the ideas "that come out of" Obama's pores. I'd love to hear which are the ones that Smith agrees with...

You've got to love it when the Messiah speaks falsehoods and uses them as an excuse to not keep his word. Check out the following analysis from Fact Check and Patrick Ruffini.
Obama says McCain is "fueled" by money from lobbyists and PACs, but those sources account for less than 1.7 percent of McCain's money.
Obama announced he would become the first presidential candidate since 1972 to rely totally on private donations for his general election campaign, opting out of the system of public financing and spending limits that was put in place after the Watergate scandal.
One reason, he said, is that "John McCain’s campaign and the Republican National Committee are fueled by contributions from Washington lobbyists and special interest PACs."
We find that to be a large exaggeration and a lame excuse. In fact, donations from PACs and lobbyists make up less than 1.7 percent of McCain's total receipts, and they account for only about 1.1 percent of the RNC's receipts.
Check out who's been donating to the Messiah. Via Ruffini
According to OpenSecrets.org, just 1% of John McCain's contributions -- a whopping $960,990 -- came from PACs. Over $88 million came from individuals.
legend Individual contributions $88,221,824 91%
legend PAC contributions $960,990 1%And lobbyists? $655,576.
$250 Million Barack is opting out of public financing because John McCain has raised $1.6 million -- less than 2% of his campaign -- from lobbyists and PACs.
Obama used the same Big Lie against Hillary, though she raised $1.25 million from PACs, or about 0.6% of her fundraising. Lobbyists were not in her top 20 industries, according to Open Secrets.
Now, I know that lobbyists are supposed to be the source of all our problems. But lobbyists are ultimately hired guns -- hired and paid for by big corporations. So, is Obama turning down money from executives at big corporations and other special interests? Not hardly. These are the top employers of Obama contributors:
Goldman Sachs $571,330
University of California $437,236
UBS AG $364,806
JPMorgan Chase & Co $362,207
Citigroup Inc $358,054
National Amusements Inc $320,750
Lehman Brothers $318,647
Google Inc $309,514
Harvard University $309,025
Sidley Austin LLP $294,245
Skadden, Arps et al $270,013
Time Warner $262,677
Morgan Stanley $259,876
Jones Day $250,725
Exelon Corp $236,211
University of Chicago $218,857
Wilmerhale LLP $218,680
Latham & Watkins $218,615
Microsoft Corp $209,242
Stanford University $195,262
If this Presidential candidate thing doesn't work out, maybe Senator Obama can start a new career in stand up comedy? Being able to say what he did today with a straight face, is pretty impressive no?

Yes, this is the candidate of Hope and Change. A new kind of campaign..
Barack Obama is warning supporters that the general election fight between him and John McCain may get ugly, but the Illinois senator is vowing not to back down.
"If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun," Obama said at a fundraiser in Philadelphia Friday, according to pool reports.
"We don't have a choice but to win," Obama said, joking that he has heard "folks in Philly like a good brawl. I've seen Eagles games."
Obama again said that the GOP will make try to make him look "scary" to voters.
Obama pledging to swing back at the GOP drew much applause from the crowd.

As the late Mel Allen used to say, "How about that!"
Apparently there were a lot of confused Democrats today ripping into Senator McCain on Iraq. Wait till they try and figure this out..
Could it be that he is now no longer the Barack Obama that he knew..... ;)
Hat Tip: Captain Ed over at Hot Air.

Well, like the sunrise and sunset, you knew this had to happen. Jimbo, we hardly knew ye.
Game Over Jim
Former Fannie Mae Chairman James Johnson said he has quit Senator Barack Obama's vice presidential search committee after the Wall Street Journal reported he may have received preferential mortgage terms from Countrywide Financial Corp.
Johnson said that while he has done nothing wrong, he left to avoid being a hindrance to Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee.
``I would not dream of being a party to distracting attention from that historic effort,'' he said in a statement. ``I believe Barack Obama's candidacy for president of the United States is the most exciting and important of my lifetime.''
Johnson's ties to Countrywide became a campaign issue after Republicans pointed out that Obama had been critical of the mortgage lender in campaign speeches. Johnson's role as a political insider also contrasted with Obama's pledge to bring change to Washington.
Johnson, 64, said that ``blatantly false statements and misrepresentations'' were written about him.
Oh, I guess he means those statements that he got sweetheart loans from his buddy Angelo Mozilo of Countrywide. But wait, those were true Jimbo. If they weren't, you'd still be working...I mean not working for Obama. Silly me.. ;)
UPDATE: Rich Lowry has the McCain Campaign's response to Jimbo's resignation.
