VP Choice

I have been a supporter of McCain since before he ever ran the first time. I know I am coming late to the table but I beg you to take another look at Michael Steele. I think he could “steele” the “celebrity” of being the only African American mantle from Obama-not to mention, he is Catholic like Biden.

After watching the following video, I really think that he might even be a BETTER orator than Barack. He is also young and good looking like Barack- but he has a lot more depth and experience. He could even be seen as MORE Black since he was born of 2 black parents and raised in this country.

He is also MORE conservative than McCain and a Pro-Life Supporter which would satisfy evangelicals. I think he would be the perfect answer for McCain who would be very acceptable to Conservatives, throw the NAACP in a quandry , give an alternative to the Catholics and his stances on Civil Rights would be very sympathetic to the independents and Hillary voters. Not to mention, he is YOUNG and can help to encroach on the youth and internet crowd.

If you agree, please help me get the word out. We don't have alot of time. He is the ORIGINAL , genuine African American candidate of "Change" and I think he would be able to reveal Obama as the Imposter that he is.

To see just HOW inspirational Michael Steele is, you will want to watch this video.

On yesterday's "Chris Matthews Show," Andrew Sullivan predicted that Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty will be John McCain's choice for Vice-President. Sullivan apparently correctly predicted last year that both John McCain and Barack Obama would be the nominees for President.

A new Survey USA poll in Michigan gives strong support to John McCain adding Mitt Romney to the ticket if his major aim is to win Michigan.

McCain leads Obama 41%-37% head-to-head. But when Romney is added to the ticket, McCain-Romney defeat every possible Democratic ticket surveyed:

Michigan is a "must-win" state for Democrats. If McCain could pick it off, he would be well on his way to victory.

Here is a report on the Memorial Day Weekend "Barbeque" John McCain is holding with 10 couples at his Arizona ranch, including several VP Possibilities. The report says Charlie Crist, Bobby Jindal, and Mitt Romney will attend. Mike Huckabee was invited but declined because of a trip to Alaska. It will be interesting to see what comes out about this gathering in the days ahead.

Here is part of a very interesting article by William Kristol that appears in the New York Times today. In it, Kristol reveals that no less than four McCain staffers in the last week mentioned Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana as a possible McCain Vice-Presidential running mate. Kristol is often spot on in what he is hearing and sensing, as when he correctly predicted Mitt Romney would end his presidential bid and endorse John McCain on Thursday, March 6, after the Tuesday, March 4, Super Tuesday primaries.

I fundamentally disagree with why they seem to think Jindal may need to be the choice, but I do believe he would be an excellent pick. Both Kristol and the McCain staffers appear to fear that Obama will be such a strong nominee that McCain must pick someone "outside the box" to be able to compete with him. I do not think Obama will be strong, but I do think Jindal would be an exciting choice:

Still, Obama is the likely Democratic nominee. Some conservatives are giddy at the thought — kidding themselves that the general election will therefore be easy, that Obama will be another Dukakis. I was struck, though, in several conversations this week with McCain campaign staffers and advisers that they’re pretty sober about the task ahead. About the Dukakis analogy, for example, one McCain aide said: If in 1988 Ronald Reagan had had a 30 percent job approval rating, and 80 percent of the voters had thought we were on the wrong track, Dukakis would have won.

And the McCain campaign knows the environment for Republicans remains toxic. They noticed that on Saturday night Republicans lost their second House seat in a special election in two months — this one in a district they had held since 1974 and that Bush had carried by almost 20 points in 2004.

Another McCain staffer called my attention to this finding in the latest Fox News poll: McCain led Obama in the straight match-up, 46 to 43.  read more »

Last night on "The Tonight Show," Governor Bobby Jindal made an appearance. In the clip above, he talks to Jay Leno about turning around Louisiana and the possibility of being McCain's running mate.

Hat Tip: Real Clear Politics

Here is some food for thought on the Vice-Presidential Selection Derby. Stuart Rothenberg makes the case for McCain to choose Joe Lieberman to be his running mate:

We all hear the same names mentioned as prospective running mates for John McCain: former Office of Management and Budget Director and one-time U.S. Trade Representative Rob Portman, Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and even former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge.

Each one would bring something to the ticket. Some come from crucial swing states that could help McCain reach 270 electoral votes. A number are governors, adding a non- Washington, D.C., piece to the ticket. By most standards, all are good-looking and articulate.

And yet, none of them would change the partisan political equation in the fall election, and I'm not at all sure any of them would increase McCain's chances of winning in the fall. Certainly none of them would constitute a statement by McCain about his presidency, the kind of statement that would send a message to voters.

There is, however, somebody who would fill that bill and therefore be a near-perfect pick for McCain: Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman.  read more »

Here is a discussion on MSNBC over the weekend about the chances of Gov. Mike Huckabee being picked by John McCain as his Vice-Presidential running mate.

Here is video from Fox News of former Bush adviser Karen Hughes discussing what it may mean that Sen. John McCain and Gov. Mike Huckabee appeared on the campaign trail together yesterday in Arkansas.

Here is video in three parts of Sen. John McCain and Gov. Mike Hukabee, along with wives Cindy McCain and Janet Huckabee, on McCain's Straight Talk Express Campaign Bus, discussing the current state of the campaign and the role Mike Huckabee may be playing in it going forward.
