It's hard for me to believe it if it's true, but Bill Kristol is reporting to Fox News that his sources say former Secretary of State Colin Powell will endorse Barack Obama at the upcoming Democratic National Convention:

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell will endorse Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention, Weekly Standard Publisher Bill Kristol told FOX News exclusively on Thursday.

“He may well give a speech at the Democratic convention explaining his endorsement of Obama,” Kristol said, citing inside sources.

For Powell to do such a thing would signify that he never was remotely a Republican with conservative principles in any way. It would be a pathetic act to endorse someone who stands against everything that is needed to safeguard the National Security of this nation. But it very well may happen. If it does, watch the Democrats and the media fawn all over him even though they have railed against him for his appearance before the United Nations to make the case for military action against Iraq. It may be that Powell sees this as a way to get back in the good graces of the mainstream press and those who hold that against him.
