Democrats Face a Grim Dilemma as John McCain Chuckles
Last night I remarked to an associate that the Democrats will be "eating their young" before the Democrat Primary Races are concluded. It's obvious that there are some tensions between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
Those tensions were magnified last night after the Super Tuesday II Primary race. First Hillary was the presumptive nominee. Then Barack was the giant killer. Then everything went to hell in a hand basket on March 4th. It created a virtual tie. A tie that will force both candidates to fight on until late April and beyond.
Meanwhile John McCain can take a small breather and compose his strategy for success in the general election. It will be a strategy made much easier by the obvious divisions within the Democrat base and their eventual compromise on their slection. Perhaps a Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton ticket. They may not have a choice but to take that road.
Here is a story by Michael Tomasky in the Guardian which analyzes this in more detail and an excerpt from Michael's story.(below)
In the meantime McCain relaxes and has a chuckle as he watches Clinton and Obama helpfully test-run all the vulnerability arguments against each other that he and his aides are thinking about employing. Nice work if you can get it.
