Have no idea--And McCain conceeds it wouldn't do a great deal

but would give the average person a small break. Now, if the federal government strong-armed state governments to go along with a summer break in gas taxes, it might be meaningful. $.18 isn't much, but in some states, add that to the state tax and it's almost a dollar a gallon less (which is 1/4 to 1/3 reduction in cost for families who are teetering).

See: http://www.marylandgasprices.com/tax_info.aspx

He THINKS it will make voters MORE BITTER!

Simple as that. He doesn't realize that McCain's suggestion is just a small jesture, not a solution to the problem. But it wouldn't be too bad to have Capitol Hill pass a "TAX REDUCTION" before the pass a tax raise, huh?

Because McCain Suggested It

Obama opposes the Gas Tax Holiday simply because McCain thought of it first. Or perhaps- since the price of gas is one of the main things Obama complains about- he does not want to see any improvement in that area.

Gas Tax holiday

Obama does not want to let go an opportunity to tax people--that is just the way he thinks about the economy. More than his pastor, his economic philosophy will be his undoing if only John McCain articulates his ideas for the economy with gusto. He has got to communicate the message that the energy crisis, in part, is self-inflicted. It is really amazing that new refineries are not being built in the USA or that oil exploration is not happening on its coast. There is no way we can afford this environmental luxury. Take on the liberals.
