Sen. John McCain is Best For America

It is with great joy I commit myself to doing all I can to see that John McCain is the next President of the United States!

I supported Fred Thompson's candidacy, and blogged at Blogs for Fred Thompson (brkcmo) for Fred on a regular basis. But I have always had a very deep admiration for John McCain. You cannot read about his time as a POW in Vietnam without knowing that he is a true American Hero. In his 5+ years in captivity, he demonstrated great courage and leadership. His sense of honor and duty was profound, even to the extent that he passed up the opportunity to leave after two years because the code of military conduct proscribed that prisoners of war should leave in the order of their capture. He stayed, knowing that his refusal of their offer would mean horrific torture.

Some say, "well, that was years ago and it does not have anything to do with today." With all due respect, it has everything to do with today. Today, America faces great challenges and enemies that want to break our will to resist them. They hope to wear us down and lull us into a sense of security to let our guard down.

Sen. John McCain is exactly the kind of man we need to lead us through these very dangerous days. I call on fellow conservatives to rally around John McCain. The reality is that either John McCain will be President, or we will turn the keys of our nation over to a radical, leftist Democrat who will ensure our defeat in Iraq, and move America toward Socialism in a myriad of ways.

You have no choice between McCain and someone more conservative. Your choice is between John McCain and the cliff of radical liberalism. It's time to stop the "belly-aching", and start doing what is right for America. No conservative can make a credible case that America will be better off having Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton:

  • appoint liberal Supreme Court Justices
  • surrender in Iraq
  • impose Socialized Medicine

I urge you to put aside whatever policy differences you have with John McCain, and look at the big picture of who will keep America safer, stronger, and more prosperous. Without doubt, that person is Sen. John McCain.
