Swiftboating McCain
From mccainiac.blogspot.com:
After McCain recounted the story Saturday night (which many people had not heard before) of the "The Cross in the Dirt" during his time as a POW in North Vietnam, the liberal blogosphere has responded by questioning the veracity of the story:
I also heard this very morning Carl "Marx" Wolfson and Thom Hartmann on KPOJ-AM discuss whether the above story was true as they gleefully ticked off a half dozen other Swift-boat style accusations against McCain's service record. I couldn't believe the hypocrisy as these liberal radio hosts had just finished demonizing Jerome Kersi, who wrote "Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry". So liberals are outraged (mostly justifiable outrage) about the accusations of lying and embellishing laid at Kerry's feet but they are more than happy to make the same type of smears against John McCain's service record.
Even more ironic? John McCain was one of the few Republicans who loudly and publicly denounced the Swift Boat attacks against Kerry. Kerry thought so much of McCain that he seriously considered him as his VP in 2004. How quickly the tables have turned. One can only hope that John Kerry will do the honorable thing and repay the favor by standing up for McCain against ridiculous attacks on his service in Vietnam.
Shame on KPOJ, Carl Wolfson and Thom Hartmann. Shame, shame, shame. John Kerry better be ready to speak out and be just as direct in denouncing these attacks as McCain was in doing the same for Kerry four years ago.
