Video/Audio of Ryan's father Brian Jopek telling Wisconsin Public Radio that his ex-wife Tracy had misgivings about Obama wearing the bracelet and mentioning their son on the campaign trail. Tracy Jopek supports ending the war so she gave Obama the bracelet but she had wanted it to be a private thing just between them. After Obama mentioned it in a speech Tracy asked Obama not to wear the bracelet. Obama did not honor the fallen soldier's mother request, but to score a "me too" political point he brought up the bracelet in the first presidential debate and also had a hard time remembering Ryan's name

-The mother of a Wisconsin soldier who died in Iraq says she was "ecstatic" when Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama mentioned during Friday's debate the bracelet she gave him in honor of her son.
Tracy Jopek of Merrill told The Associated Press on Sunday she was honored that Obama remembered Sgt. Ryan David Jopek, who was killed in 2006 by a roadside bomb.

My impression was that Obama's response was immature and did not express the appropriate sentiments that such a symbol would call for. However, the mother is an Obama supporter and she is standing by him.
