Who is THE IDIOT in the Campaign Who Put Out the Spanish Ad? He/She Needs to Be Fired!

It's a stupid lie and let me emphasize the word "stupid". There's a line even in politics which you don't cross and outright lying is that line. McCain loses credibility in his very long and very consciencious life. This is dishonorable.

My suggestion is that McCain comes out and says "It is a screwup. We apologize." Period. If Nixon had admitted the mistake, Gerald Ford would have never been President. For God's sake, let's not forget we're supposed to be the good guys.

And if I were McCain, I would schedule a required attendance meeting for all campaign staff, and I'd make these people watch the movie, "Man For All Seasons". Thomas More is the touchtone for this campaign. Don't forget it.

Sincerely,

The woman who was right about what the campaign should have done on Monday and various other suggestions that proved to be correct

What on God's green earth

What on God's green earth are you talking about? And is it really necessary to blow up the entire board with your flaming post?

A Spanish Language Ad That Says

Obama opposed immigration reform...apparently Obama supported it. Or was O'Reilly lying about this? It was on last night's show.

And how would this blow up the board? If O'Reilly's representation of this ad is a lie, then something needs to be done there. As someone who has supported McCain twice, I think I've earned the right to say when I think the campaign has gone off track.

It's a good ad.

The ad claims that Obama voted for poison pill amendments--amendments designed by special interests to kill the legislation. None other than Ted Kennedy urged members on the floor not to vote for these amendments. McCain did not. Obama did. McCain was willing to compromise, while Obama was not. The ad does not claim that Obama did not vote for the legislation, but rather that he and certain of his liberal colleagues are responsible for the deal's demise.

Bill O'Reilly, in my opinion, was wrong in his analysis last night. He didn't even air the English translation of the commercial.

The ad is important because it shows that McCain is the true bipartisan candidate, and Obama, despite all of his "unity" rhetoric, always votes with the most liberal members in his party. It's a good ad, and it is not at all dishonest.

Spanish Ad translation

Rovensta,
You have explained it perfectly! The ad specifically hits Obama for the "poison pill" efforts. Here is the English translation of the ad:

ANNCR: Obama and his Congressional allies say they are on the side of immigrants. But are they?

The press reports that their efforts were ‘poison pills’ that made immigration reform fail.

The result:

No guest worker program.

No path to citizenship.

No secure borders.

No reform.

Is that being on our side?

Obama and his Congressional allies ready to block immigration reform, but not ready to lead.

JOHN MCCAIN: I’m John McCain and I approve this message.

brianinmo, thank you for the clarification.

Until this, I just thought O'Reilly was guilty of bias. Even I didn't think he'd do such misrepresentation of truth that one would have to classify him an outright liar.

Obviously, I don't speak Spanish (I know I'm an embarrassment to Barrack, but....)

I Apologise. So Mr. No Spin O'Reilly was busy spinning again?

I've layed off the man this week--even though I continue to see misrepresentations and hypocarcies galore. Looks like my suspicions of weeks are regrettably proving true. I was hoping he was perhaps playing games just to secure the Obama interview.

He continues to characterize anyone who disagrees with him as right-wing nuts, and the evidence is building that he doesn't like McCain.

BTW, did you all see the "expert" he had on to critque Sarah Palin's "presentation". The woman had the chutzpa to comment on Palin's school marm hair do. Puleese. This woman wore glasses reminiscent of the 1950's, a royal blue 3 button polyester suit teamed up with a fusia blouse (and the blouse and suit had all buttons buttoned) and her long platinum hair looked like it was suffering from 10 years over processing and was styled with Dippidy Do and brush rollers. I'd trust fashion advise from her--NOT.

So, my apologies to the staff member, and I do hope someone is calling O'Reilly on this. His credibility is disappearing almost as fast as his books are selling.

Obama, O'Reilly, Thomas

Obama, O'Reilly, Thomas Moore, IDIOTS and liars. Are you saying that O'Reilly was lying about a McCain ad? Because if you are, you're not doing a good job of it.

O'Reilly was wrong.

I think that O'Reilly was wrong in his interpretation that the ad claimed that Obama opposed immigration reform. The text, I believe, shows otherwise. I don't think he was lying. I think he was wrong.

GVnana, You are actually calling St. Thomas More a Liar?

Wow!

Amy, You have a genuine

Amy, You have a genuine knack for calling attention to yourself, but I don't think that's the purpose of this board. Good bye.
