YouTube Video Idea - "Is This Guy Another JFK?"
Calling all creative YouTube Artists. The following is an idea (and script) for a video. Hopefully, someone can run with it. Constructive comments, suggestions, questions welcome. Only request is that script writing credit go to Tom Paine at tpaine2004@aol.com, if something comes of this. Thanks.
IS THIS GUY ANOTHER JFK?
The Setting:
A coffee shop like Starbucks in a suburban or downtown setting. Close up on Hispanic
male, early to mid-30s, in casual business attire, short dark hair, horned rimmed eyeglasses.
Shot of him from chest-level to shoulders up (“Young Man”) at all times until end.
He is sitting at a table near a window, sunlight streaming in from behind. Based on the
shot, he appears to be sitting alone.
The Camera, depicting the point of view of an Interviewer (“Interviewer”), approaches,
with somewhat shaky frame of reference.
Interviewer’s questions are never heard, just responses.

YOUNG MAN:
“ Me? ... I suppose. Listen, I only have a couple of minutes.
... No, I’m not sure yet. My friends all know, though. Yeah, everyone around
seems to say it’s a no brainer. You know, ‘You are the change you’ve been
waiting for,’ and all that.
... Me? Change? Yeah, Sometimes I think so. I really do.
You know, the guy looks like he’s got it together. Cool, smart, speaks well.
Pretty wife, young kids. Another JFK ... that’s what they all say anyway.
... What do I think? I don’t know. Kennedy was before my time, man. My
mom loved him though, picture in the house. Made my mom proud, my family
proud. First Catholic and all of that. I suppose that would make me proud too.
But, you know, people weren’t so sure back then either. At least that’s what
you see when you look back at the record. He had some rough times in the
beginning. Those Russians were a lot tougher than he thought, and people
weren’t so sure he was tough enough for the job.
Listen, man, I’m no historian but, actually, if you really look closely, it wasn’t
until that Missile Crisis that people really knew.
Kinda ironic, when you think about it: if it weren’t for some of those early
blunders, there may not have been a Cuban Missile Crisis. Scary, I suppose.
Thank G-d it was all good in the end. He stepped up.
“ ... This guy another JFK? Heck if I know ...But do I need to take a chance?
Do I really want to have to find out?
I know people don’t think the other guy is cool, but I know him. Might not
always agree. But I know who he is. I know he’s ready. More important, I
guess, everyone else knows that too..
Camera tightens in on Young Man’s face.
When I really think about it, when I’m by myself , thinking about what’s really
at stake, what I could lose if someone in that position blunders, I just gotta say
no, I don’t need to take that chance ... Can’t really go with what feels good at
the moment .. I got too much riding, really.
Young Hispanic woman enters from side of the frame; you see only her profile. Camera
zooms out and you see a child in a stroller next to the Young Man.
... Oh, Hi, Honey. ... Yeah, he’s ready. ...
... Listen man, I’m sorry, I gotta go.
Fade to image of the Candidate.
